    Garage Sale Success

Published by Pam Kessler | 581 words. · About 3 minutes to read this article. - 23 Comments

It's time to show my garage sale loot for the weekend. These are my Friday finds.

Old frame that I am going to make a chalkboard out of if my crafty side kicks in.

A really cool robin's egg blue Fire King relish dish.

This was the first time I had ever seen this Fire King piece in this pretty robin's egg blue before and now I'm going to be hunting for more pieces in this color. I don't think the photos do the color justice. It is gorgeous. I am in love with it. I might have to sleep with it under my pillow tonight.

I thought it looked sort of familiar and yes it was, because I dug this one out of my corner cabinet when I got home. But this one is run of the mill everyday white.

    A side by side comparison.

I also bought a ironstone platter because you can never have enough ironstone platters.

And a cute silver pedestal bowl, because I am on a mission to save all the homeless silver pieces in the world.

Now you might be asking yourself much I paid for all this awesome stuff? Well, I bought it all for 45 cents! When I gave the lady two quarters she started digging for the nickle in change. I let her keep the nickle. I was being generous that day.

On Saturday I went to a community garage sale. Normally these things happen in developments, but in this instance it was a bunch of houses on a couple of country roads that all got together to have their sales on the same day. Lots of neat stuff and lots and lots of driving between houses.

So, do you think this guy is having a yard sale? I just loved his over the top advertising scheme.

So these are my Saturday finds from the country road sales.

I started off at this old farmhouse down a long gravel road. When I got there I saw a lady loading up old white chippy painted 9 pane windows into her back seat - too late for those :(.

But then I saw these wooden slatted things. I thought they were neat looking, but had no idea what they were, so I asked one of the farm guys about them. Old windows/vents from the barn. You can't tell from the photo but this is a substantial piece - probably weighs 10-15 pounds and is at least 6 inches thick. They were selling them for $2.00.

Look at that rustic wood. I don't know what I am going to do with it right now, but for $2.00 I thought I could find a use for it. Maybe just as a wall hanging?

I also bought this glass jug there for $1.00. Just liked the look of it.

Down the road further I found this stoneware crock thing - again, no idea what it is, but I collect stoneware bowls and thought it would be a good addition. $3.00.

And further down the road I found more silver to rescue.

This one is a velvet lined box with some cool engraving on the side. 75 cents.

Not bad for a $6.75 investment and a relaxing drive in the country.

And what is it with things I bring home? My dog was having an issue with the smell of this thing even though there was no odor. Maybe they used to have chickens in the barn?

I am loving your findings. However I am very interested in the silve velvet lined trinket box because I have one exactly like it. At first I thought the top was a mismatch but in looking at yours we have the same lid. Do you have any information about your yet. Please let me know either way.

I've been told it's a box to hold a jewelry.

I was garage saling in the country this weekend as well. Plus a rural(ish) subdivision sale, well six houses. I have seen things similar to your barn vents used to display vintage linens, hang over the slats.
I use my clear jug just to hold change - and save it up for yard saling.

I really like your finds. I think I like the silver pedestal the very best. And I love all photos that have a dog in them. That pic helsp to show how big the wooden vent is.

You are a girl after my own heart when it comes to saving silver. I love anything on a pedestal too. The shutter is great and the blue dish is very pretty.
