This is the best recipe for soft and chewy oatmeal cookies just like Grandma used to make! They're super easy to make too.

Back when I was shamelessly showing off my enamel topped kitchen cabinet on my Antique Farmhouse Kitchen Cabinet post a few weeks ago, I had "staged" the photo with some oatmeal cookies.

I know a few of you, who may or may not be related to me, probably thought I had bought the cookies from the bakery and just threw some oatmeal and flour around for looks. But no, I made these babies!

Oatmeal cookies!!! Who doesn't love a good oatmeal cookie!

    From scratch.

Back when I was growing up (long, long ago) I used this very same recipe to make oatmeal cookies with my mom.

With this being from a grungy old hand-written recipe card from my mother's recipe box, I have no idea what the calorie count is. Let's just say, it's a cookie. And by definition, a cookie isn't exactly a diet food, right? But oatmeal is good for you, so that has to counteract SOMETHING.

BTW, there are no electric mixers required, so it's a perfect recipe for kids to help with. And best thing is, it's made all in one bowl, so minimal cleanup.

Oh, and I have not gone nuts. That I know of. Normally, in your typical cookie recipe you beat up the eggs and other wet ingredients and add your dry ingredients into that wet mix. We're doing it backwards here, people. And it works.

There's just something comfy and cozy about sitting at the kitchen table with a warm oatmeal cookie right out of the oven and a glass of ice cold milk. Nothing says lovin' like a cookie straight from the oven, I always say. Or was that the Pillsbury Doughboy?

I get confused with that pudgy white guy all the time!
